Good News about Insurance

Last week I got a letter in the mail saying that my son and I have insurance through the State. I also have insurance through my work for myself. I did not think I could have both, but made a phone call to the State and I can keep my insurance through the State and my own insurance.

So that means NO more medical bills. What one does not cover the other one will. So when I went to Doctor last week I will not have to pay anything. Also if I decide to have my surgery done then I won't have to pay anything out of pocket. My part of the surgery was at least $2,000.

So until I get a better job or my son turns 19 I will have 2 insurances. GOOD NEWS! It will not pay my back bills. But hey I can get my flu shot for free.

Coupons!

Does your store take internet coupons? If the answer is yes then you need to be hitting these two sites regularly. I always find great cereal coupons on them.

www.coupons.com
www.redplum.com

If you are a member of mypoints.com then you can also print coupons from them and earn points when you use them.

I just read in an article from "Milwaukee" Magazine that a family can save $1000 a year just by cutting coupons. I believe it, and I only buy things that are on sale and use coupons with sales whenever possible.

$348.40 for 2?

That is what the USDA says I should spend on food for one month for me and the kid. That is under the thrifty plan. You can look up yours here.

I have no idea what I spent in Aug. Although I do believe it could be way over that. I did spend a good $40 on meat alone. Which is lasting awhile for us. YEAH!!

I promise in Sept. to really watch what I spend on food and track it all. It has a way of getting away from me. I can say for sure that because I cook almost every day we are eatting at home that saves money big time.

Since I am off today after I get home from running with my friend to the Coach store (she is returning and I am not buying). I will organize all my coupons for next month and get a meal plan in place. I work Tuesday during the day so it will get posted either Tuesday night or Wed. for sure.

Still Going Strong

Have not even logged onto the computer since Wed. night. I had to work Thursday and Friday early in the morning. I was so tired at night that I just did not have it in me to go online.

I was going to go and see another movie today but instead gave the kid a dollar to go and rent one from Redbox.

I decided to do all the laundry. Not sure yet how much it cost me. I got $20 in quarters. After I was done I threw the rest in my purse. Which I will be digging out and counting before I put up for next week or the week after.

I lost 2 hours at work this week. I was so sick Friday morning from some meds I have been taking. I could not go to work at first. I was 3 hours late. I did have an extra hour so I only missed 2. I am going to see if I can make those 2 up tomorrow.

I need to really write some more articles. I did not write at all last week. I am off on Monday so I am going to write and see what I have in the basement to sell. I know I have a microwave so I am hoping I can sell it this week.

That is about all I have.

Payment made

I used the $28.00 on my paypal card to make a payment. I paid on one of the medical bills. So far I have managed to pay 38.00 to this bill in the last 2 weeks. I agreed to pay them $20 a month. So I have almost made 2 months worth of payments.

Everytime I make a payment online, I write it down in my notebook with the running balance which is now $314.60. I also take the email receipt I get and move it into a special folder. I figure if they every want to take me to court between now and pay off day. I can show a judge that I have been faithfully paying each month the $20 and sometimes more.

Still need to figure out my paycheck. I have not spent any money from it but just do not feel like crunching numbers right now. Until I crunch those numbers no money can be spent from the check.

Okay crunched some numbers;
Paid cell phone
Paid Dentist -- (so another $25.00 off those horrid medical bills)

Still need to:
pay loan
Pay lawyer - need to get money order
Pay Mom for phone.

Surprise!

Money surprises are my favorite. I knew I had 3 secret shops out there that I was waiting payment on. I figured I would get payment in Sept. and Oct. this morning I got an email from paypal saying I was paid for 2 of them. YEAH!!! So that is 28.00 that is going right on that pile of stinky medical bills.

Plus today is also payday so I can put some of my paycheck towards them also. Tech. I have to pay out $35.00 of my check to medical bills. Since I am already caught up on my monthly payments on 2 of them. Later today I will figure out my bills and what I can pay over the $35.00. The 28.00 is going on the bills for sure.

I really would like this pile to be gone by May 2010.

Monday - Back at it

Today is my day off. I really cherish the few I get off. Seems like all I am doing is working. Fun is not happening much around here.

The weekend:

Sat:
Took myself to see "The Time Traveler's Wife". It was the $5.00 before noon special. I had a giftcard with $2.00 left on it. So to get in cost me $3.00. I stopped at work and bought a soda and some candy. $2.11.

Cost: $5.11

Sunday:
Worked - came home and read a book all night. Total enjoyment.

Monday:
Printing out coupons
Writing a few articles
Going to library. ( I read this book "Where do I go" by Neta Jackson. I want to read more of her books.
Might hit Aldi

Foodwise:
Steak tacos for dinner
Get rest of chicken into chicken salad
Soak beans for red beans and rice Tuesday.

I am so glad that I stocked up on Meat. I won't get my food stamps for another 16 days. We are fine. Just need to get some bread and milk with in that time frame.

Payday is Wed. I went back to direct deposit this week. I am going to try it again. However if I have ONE mishap with the checkbook then it is paperchecks till I am forced into direct deposit.

The DAY that never ends

It has been a beauty of a day. I had to be at work this morning at 7 am. I HATE going in at 7 AM esp. when I closed the night before. Well I get up around 5:30 am. My mother starts in on me about everything and anything. Every little thing that is wrong she is crabbing at me. It was so bad I left 20 min. early and sat at the bus stop. Of course that did not stop my phone from ringing and more yelling at me.

She is pissed because of her actions I would not give her the $200.00 I got from my purse. I am sorry but I pay rent, I pay for mine and the kids food, I have even bought her food when she had no money. In fact up until the other day I had not even kept track of money I gave her. But since her choices caused her to be overdrawn. I was not going to be handing over my money for it. I already paid her and extra 100 in rent for July since she was broke. There is a lot I am leaving out but I have to.

So the phone bill comes and my kid has called long distance. Not on purpose because where we live some 262 numbers are not long distance. You have to know where you are calling. So now I have to pay 28.00. She is also making me give her money for any calls over what she use to make before we moved in. My son does not have a cell phone so he has to use either the house phone or my cell. I would love to get him a phone, but he does not act responsible so I will not put him on my plan.

What really kills me is she is acting like nothing happened this morning. The other day she purposly slammed the door to wake me up. I find it really rude behavior. Maybe she is pissed that I am doing what I have to do in order to get things paid off.

Thank you Candy

Candy was kind enough to share with me the code to make the medical bill bar. So I can change the total whenever a payment is made. You can all watch the progress I am making on paying these off.

Take a moment and click on her blog!

Thanks again!

That is what all my medical bills add up to. OUCH! I am planning on getting those paid off no later than 9 months from today. So by May 20, 2010 I will no longer owe them.

Most of the money will have to come from paychecks since I really do not have much else to sell around here. I will be making sure that I am saving every possible cent in order to add anything extra to those bills.

Dentist - $208.00
Med #1 - $667.50 (may change as I just went to the doctor)

News from the Lawyer

Being poor is not so bad today. They are not garnishing my wages. I guess with my income and food stamps. I fall right in the hole. It is a good thing because they would have gotten over 100 of my paycheck every 2 weeks. There is no way we could live.

So he tells me you still owe the money DUH!!! I know that. It is also collecting interest of 22 cents a day. That is $80.30 a year. Not bad but I still don't want to pay it. So next check I am going to start paying them off. I want it paid off in 9 months or less. I owe over 600.00. I have to call again to get the exact amount. I could not hear him to well when I called this afternoon.

I find it interesting how he was not going to tell me about it. He was suppose to call me today and didn't. I guess if you let the 22 cents add up over years it does become big bucks. However I know this morons are going to be watching to see if I make more money so they can garnish away. Yeah I will get it paid off before I let that happen.

Just a relief to know that I will not be worse off than I am right now.

Freezer is stocked

I took some of the money that I made selling my purse and phone to get more food. I did not shop wisely with my food stamps. Trying to help someone who is low on money.

Also I need ideas on how to cook to keep this kid full. I can't believe how much he eats and I just can't seem to cook enough that is cheap enough.

So I got the meat deal this month and added a pound of chicken wings and two mock chicken legs. So now I am hoping I can find some things that will take us to the rest of the month.

I got to really sucky -- low low offers on two of my articles. But I guess I can look at it that is money coming in. Enough to buy some food at ALDI's. Which I will be heading to after I get off of work on Thursday.

My kid does not like pasta and not to huge on potatoes. So what other sides can I make to go with food that we cook.

Happy Dance!! Come and Dance with me.

Home from my 8 hour shift. The 2 pm to 10:30 pm. Which ends up being till 10:45 pm. Hey those extra 15 min. add up to an extra hour or 2 a week so I don't mind.

So I come home make pizza rolls for the hungry kid. I bought those and a few other things to the tune of $8.00 at work. OUCH! But he was hungry and really not much he could make here.

I come online to check my email and I see I have a paypal payment for $200.00. Why? So I open it and read it. DUH!! I forgot I had relisted the bag on Ebay and it SOLD! YEAH ME! So finally I have the money from the bag. Funny cause today I was so irritated that I can't get that bag sold. I am not using it, and don't want it, but can't get it sold. I totally forgot that I relisted it on Ebay.

Go back to last Sat. I put up my old cell phone on craigslist. I did not know what to charge so I said make me an offer. One guy offered me $20 for it. I said fine. Afterall it is just sitting here. He was suppose to pick up Sat. never called. Another lady offered me $35.00 for it. I said sure...again no call. So then I get a kid who broke his phone. Asked if I would take $50 for it. I said sure. Then he emails me back and said he only has $40 for it. I said $40 is fine. Today I had them meet me at work -- They showed up and I sold the phone for $40.00. YEAH!

In a matter of hours I made $240.00. Well a little less after the 12.00 in fees I have to pay. But still that is still getting me ahead of the game.

Tomorrow I will figure what goes to bills, groceries and into my account till payday. I am so happy right now.

Working with the Lawyers

Called them on Monday regarding my judgement. I had to fax my paycheck stub and now send my food stamp letter. I am hoping this means they will let me make payments. I still wonder if I am in an area financially where they can not garnish. I don't know since some of the stuff on the web is so confusing.

I am also suppose to meet someone at 1:30 to buy my old cell phone for $40. I hope they show up. I have had a lot of things up for sale and people asking but no buyers. So it would be nice if someone showed up for once. Part of the money will be going to a meat deal. We need the meat and I can use the others for sides.

Tomorrow is the smoked turkey leg. I just took out a whole chicken for Sat. Our fridge takes FOREVER to thaw out meat. I will be gone so I need to leave it out and the kid will not remember to put it back in.

Sandwich for me at work. Cereal before I leave.

Weekly Meals

We had a rotisserie chicken from the store late last week. Well today the chicken needed to be used up. There was not enough for a meal for one really. Well there was but I am sure if I would have given all of the tiny pieces to the kid - I would have gotten the you have 3 heads look. So I picked off every remaining bit of chicken. Then chopped up celery and onions. Next thing you know I had enough chicken salad for 4 sandwiches. I used up every bit of that chicken. So for $4.99 I got 8 meals out of it. Or should I say we ate chicken 8 times.

Pork chops are baking in the toaster oven for tonights dinner, serving with brown rice and some veggies. Took out the smoked turkey leg for us to have for dinner on Wed.

Last night I had some of the taco skillet I made leftover. The kid did not want it. So I took a tortilla and warmed it in a bowl, put the meat on it. Then I added some lettuce, tomatoes and some sour cream. So I had a meal out of that. Using up what we have and not wasting anything is one goal that I am so committed to. I can't stand it when food gets wasted.

Now to get through the rest of the week. There is no money for food so I will be coming up with things that are in this house. Now the $35.00 the kid wasted could have gone towards food.

A new week - a new attitude

Last week was depressing with the court case, losing money, and just not having enough. This week is a new week and a new attitude. Time for a change, after all that is the only thing that is going to get me out of this mess.

So today I decided that for two hours I will spend writing and editing my articles. I should be able to get at least 3 articles written a day. I will only be working Mon-Fri on this. If there is time on the weekends then I will add a few there. I should be able to get 15 articles written a week. This should pay me at the min. of $45.00. That is me hitting the low end of the deal. I know there is money to be made here and I need to make it.

The kid pissed away $35.00 and I am not happy. I gave him $20.00 for his phone. Which instead of getting time on his phone he ate the money. Yes I mean he went out and ate $20 worth of food. Then I gave him $15.00 to pay for some shirts. I told him if he got the money for his birthday then he needed to return my money. Again he did not return my money. So I am not happy. This makes things tighter for me. So he will not be getting any more money from me and working off the other money.

Called the lawyer today about the judgement. They are going to look at my paycheck stub and see if they will let me make payments. I am not sure but I might fall into the "can't garnish" area. Since my income is low and I am supporting me an the kid. I have to fax them my stub by the end of today.

Have a few things out there for sale still. Nothing is selling or I get someone that is interested and then never hear from them again. I am not waiting on any of these sales. If they happen then great but if not then I am not going to worry about it.

Did get some bills paid so that is good. I can't wait for the dentist bill to be gone, and the other medical bills. Even though it will be the dentist that goes first as the other ones are so big.

Resume and job hunting is on the top of the list this week too.

The toliet seat broke

Last night my son woke me up, he said I broke the toliet seat. Of course I ask why did you wake me. He tells me "well you would have been pissed had you fallen in" LOL that is my kid.

Now we knew it was coming, that the seat was going to break. So now we have a toliet seat that is 3 different pieces. Must be fixed ASAP!

So after court I go to Walmart. Yeah! It was actually not bad for a Friday afternoon. I had wanted to find a few other things anyways, since my mom rushed me out of there on Wed. I did not get to shop. I found the items I was looking for, dug out my coupons and headed to the hardware section. I know NOTHING about buying a toliet seat. So I am comparing them, which is sturdy, nothing padded please (as I have enough of my own). I see they range in price from $9.88 to $23.99. I pick out one and it is $11.88.

I check out...GET THIS...I had the sweetest cashier. I wanted to ask her how the heck she got this job. I mean every time I go to Walmart, I get the meanest, crabbiest person there. I just assumed on the application it stated, you have to be nasty to work here. We are talking about the nail polish I picked out (buy 1 get 1 free w/ coupon), what we are doing this weekend etc. I was in total shock. So I pay and leave.

Walking to the bus stop, I am thinking $21.97 does not seem right.

Bought:
Coupon holder - 3.88
Foot lotion - $5.89
Nail polish - $2.47
Nail polish - $2.47
Tide stain remover - $3.74
Toliet Seat - $11.88

$30.33 before coupons

$25.36 after coupons

Then I look and the toliet seat rang up at $5.97!!!! So my total was 21.97 ( I had $4.97) in coupons.

Oh and we tried to put it on but can't get one of the screws out. So our landlord is coming tomorrow. I think he was impressed we tried to do it ourselves. And he said he would pay for the seat too.

Court Update

Went into small claims court today. WOW!!! The room was packed. There were so many people there it was like standing room only. Waited an hour and was called. Asked if the debt was mine, I said Yes. They said judgement entered. I asked about payment arrangements. I have to call the lawyers office on Monday. They can say yes or no then. Now I am looking to see if my income falls within the poverty level where they can not garnish. I never saw the judge, was not asked anything else. I guess I could have stayed in bed.

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Tomorrow is Court

Tomorrow morning I got to court regarding my one medical bill. I am taking my paycheck stubs, other medical bills and my letter about food stamps. I hope the judge will allow for a payment plan. If not and they garnish my wages well then we will manage for those 2.5 months it will take to pay it off.

I can't change the past but I am working on making the future better. I mailed off the dentist payment today, the other medical bill and while I was at the doctor's office I paid $10.00 in cash on that one. So I am doing exactly what I said I would do.

Wish me luck and I will let you know what happened.

Free Cereal

Walgreens has cereal on sale 3/$7. So I made sure to get 6 boxes. I did not just choose any boxes. I made sure to find the ones that said "WIN CASH". Since 1 in 10 boxes had a cash card worth $5, $10 or $25 dollars in them.

I paid $9.85 for 6 boxes of cereal. I forgot my discount card once or I would have saved another dollar. I also had $3.10 in coupons.
Hard to get upset about not saving a dollar when you win 2 of these.

I won $10.00 so my cereal was free! LOVE IT! I have now hidden some of the boxes so my kid can't open them all up and eat them all. We should be good on ceral for a moment.

Learning to do things - Saves Money

I love the look of a nice french manicure. I don't like the prices of getting one done. I thought I would call around to see how much it would cost for me to get them done. No tips, just the french manicure on my natural nails.

Here is what I found:

Place one: $31.00

Place two: $19.00

Place three: $18.00

The french one in the picture is one I did myself saving myself some big BUCKS! I would have to get them done at least once every 2 weeks.

I bought some white polish (99cents), guides for the tips (2.00) and top coat (already had). It cost me 2.99 plus 1 hour of my time. I love how it turned out. A few people asked me where I got my nails done. So it must look okay.

Sorry the picture is blurry.

So I saved at least 30.00 a month or more by learning to do this myself.

Next time I do it. I will post how I do it with pictures

It is official!!!

My son is an adult! He turned 18 years old today. I can't believe it. My baby is not longer my baby. Since there was not a lot of money. I gave him a gold chain for his birthday. It was one that was given to me, that he has always wanted. I also bought him some Black colonge by Antino Bandaras (yes I so spelled that name wrong). He did not want a cake and wanted to go to the movies. So that is what he did.

Car free

Very interesting read about another blog who does not own a car.

I LOVE COUPONS!

I love coupons! I so do love them. I don't have much money for food till Sunday. However we really needed cereal and milk. Have you looked at the prices of cereal lately. Who is buying it? My son said "Mom get the bags of Malt oh Meal ceral" they are lower in price and he likes them. Okay so off to the store I go......HELLO! when did Malt oh meal cereal become $3.79 for a bag. So I pulled my cart to the side, looked at what was on sale...dug out my coupons. Then I made a call home..."Do you still eat Mini Wheats?" yes! Bet ....it is on sale 2 for $5 and I have a $1 off coupon.

So this is what I came home with:
1 gallon of milk - $1.88

big bag of jerkey - $8.99 (treat for the kid)
1/2 gallon of chocolate milk - (forgot price)
1 yoplait whips -.66
2 boxes of mini wheats - $5.00
1 box of Honey bunches of Oats. - $3.00

AFTER ALL MY COUPONS: $4.02 YEP! THAT IS CORRECT.

Had a coupon for:
1.00 off mini wheats

free yogurt
free honey bunches of oats
free jerkey (did you really think at $8.99 I was buying that)
free chocolate milk

I was so darn proud! Had to call my mom at work and tell her what I said. My receipt said ("you saved" $22.24)

The cashier asked if he could go shopping with me.

Broke!

Yep that is me right now. BROKE as a JOKE! HA HA. It is tight right now. I am using up what little money I have. I can't buy any food till Sunday. But let me tell you I have coupons ready to go.

My bag did not sell again. I had already dropped the price by $50.00. Not sure what to do at this point. I did throw them and a few other things reduced up on Craigs. I know this economy is not the time to sell luxury items but I just can't keep them either.

In my notebook in my bag (yep I carry a large bag) I have been jotting down ideas for articles. I have a few in progress and the plan is to get them submitted by Monday. So I hope they get offers and published by next Thursday. One is a funny story about my first trip to the beach in Florida when I was 10.

Work today. Nice long shift of 8 hours. I need all the extra hours I can get right now. I am worried about how I am going to feed me and the kid if they garnish my wages. Hence why I need to get that stuff sold.

Not much else is going on here. Just plugging away. Payday is about a week away and that is all about BILLS!

One way to make me hang laundry

I went down to the laundry mat to get a load of clothes washed. Today they are putting in new dryers. So there were no working dryers. They were replacing some of the dryers. The attendant met me at the door and said no dryers. I asked can I use the washers he said yes.

So I washed the clothes and put them on the rack outside to dry. Total cost 1.75.

While I was washing I walked over to CVS to use my paypal money (from my articles) and bought next weeks pass. Nice to have that all paid for and not worry how am I going to get to work.

Today is the day I hope my purse sells. I have 10 watchers this time. So in 3 hours I will know if I have finally managed to sell that purse. That will give me about 180.00 if it sells for the 200.00 I have it listed at. Please let that purse sell.

Work again tonight in fact I am working every day up until Monday. I took off Monday and had off Tuesday but picked up an extra shift.

Court is next Friday which I am getting all my papers together for.

Tuesday, August 04, 2009

Free Yogurt! Go here to get your coupon. Another trick these can be frozen as can the regular Yoplait. They thaw by lunchtime and serve as an extra ice pack in your lunch!

Tuesday morning Frugality

Not to much is going on here this morning. Writing a few more articles, to get more money in the bus fund. I figure if I spend 1 or 2 day a week just writing in the morning that will fund my bus fare to work.

Making dinner for later, since I have to work and the kid will go and work out. We don't eat together much since we have such crazy schedules. I still need to plan meals but right now I am using up what we have here and buying very little. I will go shopping either on Sunday after work or early Monday morning. I need a cake for Monday as it is the kiddo's 18th birthday.

Laundry needs to get done. I can't get in the room where the clothes are, so that will have to wait until tomorrow morning. Which will be a run to the laundry mat and hanging them up to dry.

My payment to one of the medical bills was cancelled. It was not enough so they did not accept my payment. NICE! I will just start sending them a check each month then. So that if they send it back to me, I have proof. You would think they would take the money no matter how little it is.

I have a long day coming up on Thursday. 7 am to 5 pm and it is warehouse day. I was going to switch with someone but then I end up losing an hour. I can't afford to lose one hour of pay right now. So even though I hate working at 7 AM I will be there with bells on. Okay with comfortable pants and shoes, ready to pump out all that warehouse.

No shopping this week. I already got the free shampoo from WAG this week. I don't need anything else so no more spending.

Articles have paid off

This morning I woke up to all five of my submitted articles accepted. Three of those have been published and two more will be in the next few days.

This five articles have netted me $17.01 which is more than enough to pay for my bus pass next week. In fact I have 51 cents towards the following weeks. This is awesome so now I do not have to use money from my paycheck to fund the pass.

I so appreciate the comments people leave with ideas on topics I can write about. My plan is to keep writing 5 to 6 articles a week. Even though I have no guarantee that all will be accepted for payment, it does help to keep working towards my goal.

I relisted my bag on Ebay, dropping the price and now have 7 watchers. I only need one buyer so I hope tomorrow that bag is sold. I really need to get it out of here and cash in my wallet. I won't have the money for the summons, but am hoping the judge will allow me to make payments and not garnish my wages. Either way I am prepared for what may happen.

New article

Now that I put up the AC box in my sidebar. All my new articles will appear there. Kind of Cool. I need to start thinking of more to write about this week. I have some waiting to publish but I really want to keep up with the writing.

Busy weekend. Start tracking Aug. grocery spending. UGH!
