Walgreens and the Swine Flu
Okay so now we are dealing with the Swine Flu as a nation. I know they are checking to see if there is a confirmed case in Chicago which is only an hour and half from me. I also heard they closed to schools here today because some kids where out with flu like symptons.
Last week I had the flu - NOT THE SWINE FLU just the every day flu bug that is going around. I was such a sweet daughter and passed it on to my mother. Who poor woman had it longer and worse than I did. It was basically a 4 to 5 day bug and you did not want to look or see food. Fever and chills but nothing to panic about.
Now if you walk into my Walgreens you will find we have no face masks nor do we have any hand sanitizer left. People are calling and buying up every little bit that we have. I just don't get why are people panicing. Really if you do what your momma taught you years ago you should be okay.

Why are some lessons so hard to learn?
Last week I did something really DUMB! I signed up another 2 year contract on a family line for my cell phone. Now it was not NEED and I DID NOT NEED a new phone. But I was having a bad day. I was mad and I went and signed away more money. I do not need a higher cell bill and we don't need another line. My mom is fine with her tracphone. GRRRR....when will I learn! Two years is a long time to be held accountable for another bill. Okay lucky for me I can return the phone and cancel the second line within 30 days without buying out the contract. Which I will be doing in the next few days. I just am so irritated that I even did this.
Why is I feel when I get my paycheck I need to treat myself with something new. Why can't I treat myself with paying off some of these bills or saving some money. Granted I did catch myself before I spent $40.00 on something I do not need. I guess it was smart to walk out of the store and tell the SA I would think about it. How about I just don't go to that darn store since I have little to no self control in there anyways.
TIME magazine has an article about the new frugality in this week's issue. Now yes I did almost buy the magazine for $4.99. Yes once again can we slap me upside my head. I am sitting at the library right now, so I can read it here. If there is something I really want them pay 10 cents and make a copy. I am sure there is nothing in the article that I don't already know. I am positive that I have either read it or thought it myself many times before someone wrote an article that I was going to pay $4.99 for. Granted I did think that I could tear out interesting things and send them off to the kid to read but is he going to read them? is he going to get the message I am sending? Who knows and for $4.99 I am not going to find out.
So these next 2 weeks before I get paid again. I am going to seriously work out a working budget. I am going to watch everything I spend (more than usual) and find a lot of ways to really getting these strings tightened. I am not making a lot of money. Plus considering I lost 15 hours of work (10 extra hours and 5 of my hours) being sick. There is not room for STUPID SPENDING! That is what I almost did today was STUPID SPENDING!
So the phone is going back! The budget is getting done and I am going to put on my frugal hat (the one I had when I started this blog) and get back to business. So I hope not to have relearn this lesson again. Although with my hard head anything is possible.
This week I will get that darn money order and get the lawyer paid off!
Okay done ranting! Have a frugal day!

Yes I know -- 2 days in a row she posted!
I packed my lunch today. I did end up buying smokes -$4.29 and some candy .89 but that is still better than what I was spending there. I have really cut back on my smoking and I am working on quitting. So I hope by the end of April I will be a non smoker.
The man is in Florida this week. I really miss him and can't wait for him to get back here. It will be for a few weeks before he makes the move permanent. I don't know what I am going to do then. See we will be apart for awhile.
This week there is no spending. Really do not need anything. I am going to the Coach outlet with a friend but I am really good at not buying anything. I do love to look though and it is nice to take a roadtrip and hang with the girls. I don't need much more than that.
See you all on Monday!!

Long overdue Update
What is going on....
1. Medical bills at the lawyers --- paid in full
2. Quitting smoking this weekend -- way to much for such a nasty habit.
3. Finally have some insurance and getting all the needed things done.
4. Still working but working more hours.
5. Need to frugalize myself even more.
This week Walgreens had Softsoap bodywash on sale $3.99. And there was a 75 cent off coupon in the mail. Then you also got a coupon for a free one. So I ended up with 3 body washes. I somehow ended up with 2 coupons. Friend gave me hers.
Need to continue to look at ways to cut back. I have started buying a 12 pack of soda. I leave it in my locker at work. I put one or 2 cans in the fridge when I get to work. So I have a cold soda for break and lunch. This really cuts down on my spending. When each bottle of soda costs 1.25 and I can get a 12 pack for about 3.25 or less. (about 27 cents a can).
I have been taking my debt card out of my wallet. That really stops me from spending money. I don't have it then I can buy things here and there. It is really easy to spend a good 10.00 a night at work on JUNK! So that has really curbed the spending.
This weekend I am going to look at other ways to cut back. Take some photos of my Coach bags to sell. I have a few that I am willing to give up. Also found some stuff in the basement and garage to sell too.
Talk to you all soon.
I also put the follow me link up. The man is doing well and so is the kid. Thanks for asking.
