Saving Money - a Penny at a Time

I have decided I have to get some money in the bank. Even though I don't have much disposable income. It has to be done....one penny at a time. So this morning when the month $25.00 transfer went into my savings. I did not transer it back and I AM NOT GOING TOO!

I also started this change bucket. I took all my singles in my wallet and threw them in the jar. It is hidden well and I only go to my hiding place when I am alone. So no one will know it is here. I know my mom would not go in it. But come on I can see the kid wanting a few bucks and "borrowing" from the jar.

Goal is to do this till Dec. cash in change and singles and deposit in bank. I should have $150 in the bank by then too.

In these trying times are you able to get money saved? How do you do it?

I have hidden a canning jar in my bedroom closet I keep all my pennies and nickels. Then come Dec. I take it to the bank. I keep all other change in another jar and I use it for petty cash. I actually use it to buy things. Change is a good thing. I also look for change when I am out and about, esp the grocery store floor and parking lots.

We have money taken directly from my husband's check and put into savings. This seems to work well for us. Sometimes we need to take some of the money out, but not as much as we're putting in.

Great idea, hope you meet your goal. You are really on a roll lately!
